JIB launches a new service for its Smart Golden or Silver card holders to enable them shopping safely via the Internet by visa cards certification system when used online (VBV) program thus making it the first Bank to present this service for its visa card holders that enables them to buy goods and services through the Internet from anywhere of the world.
H.E. Mr. Musa A. Shihadeh, Vice-Chairman & General Manager, said that the Bank sought to keep with the latest technology to develop its banking services provided to customers and that we are proud of this achievement by providing VBV program service making us therefore the first Jordanian bank to provide this service for its customers. This service is deemed the safer and more assuring to the card holder as one of the requirements of the program is to use a secret personal number which is obtained under certain conditions and is verified and validity checked during usage to insure that the actual card holder is the one using the card. To be able to use this service, the customer must provide Electronic Cards Services Department at the Bank with his/her personal data such as the national number and date of birth.
Mr. Shihadeh added that this achievement is added to a series of successes the Bank has made through its 27-year march which indicates the continuity of real achievement by the Management in reaching for development, and also indicates the distinguished status the Bank enjoys locally, regionally and internationally. In this respect, JIB was the first bank at the local level to issue the first (Smart Visa) (Smart Card) (Chip&Pin) that is printed and issued In-House. Besides, this card gives the most protection and assurance upon usage inside Jordan and elsewhere in purchase transactions at any point of sale P.O.S or cash withdrawal transactions using ATM’s or through the Internet because requirements specified by Visa International on using this type of cards via the Internet are available.
The Bank also obtained certificate of acceptance of Smart Card Service to all the ATM’s of the Bank from Visa International at the end of 2006 thus making the Bank the first Jordanian bank to provide its customers with this service through its 64 ATM’s. This service enables JIB’s customers to use ATM’s that accept the Smart card that is issued by the Bank or other banks with the consent of Visa International.
With this achievement, JIB has achieved the first grade locally by meeting Visa International’s requirement to turn to using CHIP that would provide security and protection for its users.
