JIB participated in the 3 rd Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions Conference that was held in Syria during the period 10-11/3/2008, in the presence of more than 200 specialists in Islamic banking.
Mr. Musa Shihadeh, Vice Chairman & General Manager, said that the Bank's sponsorship of the Conference Activities emerge from its concern and continuous attempts to interact in such economic activities that are particularly related to Islamic banking and that aim at enhancing Arab economic cooperation and expanding the Islamic banking, especially in Syria that endeavors to expand in Islamic banking where the long experience of JIB has been considered. Within this context the Bank sent delegates to some Islamic banks in Syria and Central Bank of Syria to benefit from JIB success.
He added that the Bank did not apply to branch in Syria. The Bank will offer its services and experiences in Islamic banking through the bank that will be established in Syria by Al-Baraka Banking Group which is a main shareholder in our Bank.
The Bank prepared a private suit in the place of holding the Conference for serving the participants and providing them with all information about the services of the Bank through distributing brochures and financial data showing the strength of the Bank's financial position. The Bank provides booklets on Islamic economy and the Sharia' Fatwa related to the legitimacy of the Bank's transactions
