Dr. Hussein Said, Chief Executive Officer / General Manager of Jordan Islamic Bank, said, "The local Islamic banking, of which Jordan Islamic Bank is at the forefront, was able to employ the electronic space to enhance its competitiveness through the development of programs, systems and technical applications, and the provision of modern electronic services that are compatible with the provisions and principles of Islamic Sharia while maintaining the confidentiality of data and financial information and verification of the identity of the customer when implementing the electronic service or stopping the service for those who use it to buy suspicious or illicit goods and services.
This came during the inauguration of the activities of the Scientific Day of Sharia’a Faculty at the University of Jordan, under the exclusive sponsorship of Jordan Islamic Bank, under the title "Cyberspace between Values and Reality", which was held under the auspices of His Excellency Professor Dr. Nazir Obeidat, President of the University of Jordan, with the participation of a number of scholars, academics, researchers and university students, on the sixth of August, at EL Hassan Bin Talal Auditorium / Deanship of Student Affairs at the University of Jordan.
Dr. Hussein Said explained that Cyberspace in the Islamic system is governed by values and morals in the field of relations and transactions, as it is based on the prohibition of all means that lead to the occurrence of immorality or the transmission of lies and spreading malicious rumors and the prohibition of trading prohibited and harmful goods and services via the Internet, and indicated that Cyberspace allowed access to the markets and creating projects, providing services, and making profits. Digital banks, digital financing platforms, and digital payments have emerged, and economic performance patterns have changed in money, business, trade, and investment, which has contributed to increasing production, reducing unemployment, and improving per capita income and standard of living.
Dr. Hussein Said praised the holding of the Scientific Day of Sharia’a Faculty, hoping that the dialogues and discussions would be translated into decisions and recommendations that achieve the goal for which it was held, expressing his pride in the strategic partnership with the University of Jordan and the Faculty of Sharia and the bank’s support for initiatives and conferences aimed at finding distinguished educational models.
His Excellency Prof. Dr. Nazir Obeidat, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Kilani, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia at the University of Jordan, in their speeches during the opening ceremony, gave thanks and appreciation to the Islamic Bank for continuing to support the activities of the Faculty of Sharia to advance its mission in preparing scholars and preachers who call to God with insight and spread goodness in society.
His Excellency Dr. Nazir Obeidat handed an honorary shield to Dr. Hussein Said in appreciation of the Bank's support for the Scientific Day, which included discussion sessions on cyberspace (values system, the secret of true happiness, and youth: challenges and opportunities).
