Based on the prominent role in supporting economic development and strengthening Arab banking, Jordan Islamic Bank sponsored the international Arab conference titled " Arab Economic and Banking Partnership Towards Supporting Development and Investment in Syria." Organized by the Union of Arab Banks in cooperation with the Central Bank of Jordan, the Association of Banks in Jordan, and the Jordanian Businessmen Association—the event was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Adel Sharkas, Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan. It was attended by Mr. Mohammad Safwat Raslan, Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, alongside a distinguished group of decision makers, central bank governors, chairmen, CEOs of banks, and representatives from Arab, regional, and international financial institutions. The conference aimed to foster Arab economic and banking integration and support development and investment efforts in the Syrian Arab Republic, taking place on 21–22/9/ 2026, at the InterContinental Hotel in Amman.
Dr. Hussein Said, CEO of Jordan Islamic Bank, stated, "Our sponsorship of the conference stems from our belief in the important role of the Arab banking sector in supporting development and investment efforts, as well as our commitment to strengthening our partnership with the Union of Arab Banks. During the opening ceremony, H.E. Dr. Adel Sharkas and Mr. Wissam Fattouh, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Banks, presented an honorary shield to Dr. Hussein Said in recognition of the bank's sponsorship of the conference.
On the sidelines of the conference, the bank set up a special booth to showcase its banking services and products, allowing participants and visitors to explore key financial solutions offered in accordance with the principles of Islamic Sharia and to learn about the bank's role in supporting development and investment.
The conference discussed several key topics, most notably the development of the banking sector and the strengthening of financial stability; the Syrian economy and prospects for recovery and development; investment and economic partnerships in support of reconstruction; the role of the Arab private sector; and capacity building alongside the enhancement of Arab economic and banking cooperation.
