Jordan Islamic Bank sponsored the Banking Forum titled "Using Artificial Intelligence in Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing: Opportunities, Risks, and the Future Path." The forum was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan and was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Khaldoun Al-Wishah, Deputy Governor. The forum was organized by the Union of Arab Banks in cooperation with the Central Bank of Jordan and the Association of Banks in Jordan, with the participation of representatives from the banking sector, regulatory and supervisory bodies, and international experts. The forum aimed to review the effective use of artificial intelligence in enhancing the efficiency of financial systems and the ability to predict financial risks. The forum was held from 1-2/9/ 2025, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Amman.
Jordan Islamic Bank's sponsorship of the forum stems from the bank's commitment to keeping pace with the latest banking technologies, digital transformation, and the use of artificial intelligence in the services provided to its customers, while ensuring compliance with regulations and instructions, in accordance with the highest standards of protection, security, and reliability of data handling and services provided, as well as addressing risks.
During the opening session of the forum, His Excellency Dr. Khaldoun Al-Wishah, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, and Mr. Wissam Fattouh, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Banks, presented an honorary shield to Mr. Hassan Atout, Head of the Retail Sector at Jordan Islamic Bank, in appreciation of the bank's sponsorship of the forum.
The forum's sessions included discussions on several topics, including ways to employ artificial intelligence to enhance financial oversight, detect suspicious activities, and develop strategies to counter cyber threats. A symposium was held on the sidelines of the conference on women's empowerment for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
