Jordan Islamic Bank provided its golden sponsorship for the activities of the second edition of the Green Finance Forum “GREEFIN 2024” entitled “Green Finance: An Urgent Necessity for the Future of the Banking Sector” organized by the Association of Banks in Jordan, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Adel Sharkas, Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan and in the presence of the Secretary General of the Union of Arab Banks and the broad participation of banking leaders, local banks, government agencies, institutions and international organizations, in order to shed light on the reality and future of green finance and sustainability in the Kingdom, raising awareness, building banking capabilities, supporting and enhancing its initiatives by enhancing dialogue and cooperation within the banking sector and with various relevant parties.
Regarding the bank’s sponsorship of this forum, Dr. Hussein Said, CEO of Jordan Islamic Bank, said, “This is an affirmation of our bank’s strategy in social responsibility, sustainability, the environment, and the continuous pursuit of transitioning to a sustainable green economy that is consistent with the vision of economic modernization in sustainability and environmental preservation, and the Central Bank’s strategy in green financing for the years 2023-2028, Our bank’s participation in this forum and the accompanying exhibition comes through a special pavilion to display the bank’s services and products related to green activities.”
He pointed out that the Jordan Islamic Bank is keen to direct its business and its credit, investment, supervisory, precautionary and risk management policies in offering sustainable products that are constantly developed to contribute to mitigating the negative effects on the environment, reducing the risks resulting from climate change and encouraging the use of renewable energy, such as the product for financing hybrid and electric cars, and Shamsna product for financing solar cells and solar heaters, and encouraging green financing to preserve the environment and establish solar energy plants to generate electrical energy...etc.
In appreciation of Jordan Islamic Bank’s sponsorship and support for the forum, His Excellency Dr. Adel Sharkas handed over an honorary shield to Dr. Hussein Said during the opening ceremony, which was held on 11/6/2024, and included a number of dialogue sessions that covered a wide range of topics related to approaches to transitioning to sustainability in the banking sector and Introducing the nature of green and sustainable finance in terms of importance, global trends, factors for integrating green finance into banking operations, designing and developing financing tools, green bank loans, investment opportunities, etc.
