Jordan Islamic Bank provided support and sponsorship for the “Invest in the Digital Economy forum”, ”entitled “Amman, the Capital of the Digital Economy,” through its strategic partnership with Jordan Chamber of Commerce and in cooperation with Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development, which was held under the High Royal Patronage and opened by a representative of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Al-Hanandah, in the presence of representatives of participating countries under the umbrella of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development and international bodies, experts and researchers in the digital economy, senior businessmen in member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and investment companies specialized in modern technology, during the period 26-27 May 2024 in Amman.
Dr. Hussein Said, CEO of Jordan Islamic Bank, said, “In line with the vision of economic modernization with regard to the perspective of financial technology and digital transformation, and our bank’s strategy for digital transformation and in accordance with the provisions and principles of Islamic Sharia, participation in this forum comes in confirmation of our continued keenness to be present among the important economic activities that support the process of economic development, which enhances our bank’s responsibility for its social responsibilities in serving the national economy, and because of the great importance of this forum in providing the opportunity to learn about the most important developments taking place in the digital economy and financial technology and how to benefit from them and their positive impact on the economy and developing the investment climate in Arab and Islamic countries.”
Jordan Islamic Bank’s contribution to the forum’s activities was represented by participating in the second dialogue session by reviewing the role of Islamic banking and Islamic finance in developing the digital economy in Jordan through a presentation by the Manager of the Information Technology Department at Jordan Islamic Bank, Engineer Ahmed Al-Sheikh, for the most important aspects of the progress and development achieved by the Islamic banking sector in the digital infrastructure and digital transformation to serve its customers, benefiting from the clear vision of the Central Bank of Jordan in this regard and the royal interest in the information technology sector and the role of banks in providing the appropriate digital environment to facilitate citizens’ access to their services with ease and enhance competition, increase work and provide job opportunities. Creating new businesses and attracting investments, especially for emerging companies.
For his part, Mr. Khalil Haj Tawfiq, President of Jordan Chamber of Commerce, expressed his thanks and appreciation to Jordan Islamic Bank for its continued support of the activities of Jordan Chamber of Commerce and its participation in the success of this forum, praising the sustainable collaborative relationship that brings them together and which contributes to supporting and developing the wheel of the national economy. He and the President of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development, Sheikh Abdullah Saleh Kamel, presented an honorary shield to Dr. Hussein Said in appreciation of the bank’s sponsorship of the conference, during the dinner party held at the end of the activities of the first day of the forum.
The bank also set up a special pavilion at the exhibition to introduce the bank's services and products that are compatible with the provisions and principles of Islamic Sharia.
