Jordan Islamic Bank sponsored the activities of the Banking Forum entitled "Environmental, Social and Governance Standards in the Financial Sector", which was held under the patronage of the representative of the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, Dr. Khaldoun Al-Wishah, Deputy Governor, and organized by Union of Arab Banks in cooperation with the Central Bank of Jordan and the Association of Banks in Jordan, with the participation of representatives of the banking sector, regulatory and supervisory bodies, and international experts to discuss strategies, challenges and best practices for implementing environmental and social governance frameworks, during the period 12-13 August 2024 at the Intercontinental Hotel - Amman.
Dr. Muhammad Fahmy Al-Jabari, Head of Support Services Sector at Jordan Islamic Bank, said, “Our bank’s sponsorship of this forum comes from the bank’s continuous keenness to be present at various meetings that aim to improve the performance of the banking sector and the standards regulating work
frameworks, keeping pace with developments, and facing challenges and risks.”
Dr. Al-Jabari stressed the importance of enhancing joint and sustainable cooperation between Jordan Islamic Bank, the Central Bank of Jordan and the Union of Arab Banks, and the forum achieving its goals and dialogue sessions, which included important topics related to how to effectively implement environmental and social frameworks, assess climate risks and how to integrate them into investment and financing decisions, in addition to governance in financial services and ethical practices.
During the opening session of the forum, Dr. Khaldoun Al-Wishah, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, presented an honorary shield to Dr. Muhammad Fahmy Al-Jabari in appreciation of the bank’s sponsorship of the forum and its continuous support and sponsorship of the activities and forums of the Union of Arab Banks.
The bank also set up a special pavilion at the exhibition to introduce the bank’s services and products that are compatible with the provisions and principles of Islamic Sharia.
