Amman, May 2024: King Hussein Cancer Foundation launched “King Hussein Cancer Foundation Endowment” in cooperation with Jordan Islamic Bank, where a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two parties, according to which the bank will manage the transactions of cash endowment sukuk for the endowment, which provides the opportunity for those wishing to support the Foundation by providing a cash endowment to be used in investment projects. It generates income to support the humanitarian mission of the fight against cancer, in accordance with the provisions and principles of Islamic Sharia.
The memorandum was signed by Jordan Islamic Bank, CEO, Dr. Hussein Said, and by King Hussein Cancer Foundation, General Manager, Mrs. Nisreen Qatamesh, on 20-5-2024, in the bank’s Head Office.
For his part, Dr. Hussein Said said, “We are happy that our bank is part of the Endowment of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, which supports the role of the Islamic waqf in serving the people of society, and allows citizens to carry out permanent and uninterrupted charitable work. It also enhances our bank’s responsibility for its social responsibilities in the field of health and social solidarity by supporting the less fortunate groups, so that the returns and profits generated from investing the cash endowment will be directed to combating cancer and bearing the costs of treating incapable patients or purchasing medical devices...etc.”
Dr. Hussein Said stated that it is possible to subscribe to the “Endowment instrument”, through the bank’s 111 branches and offices, or through King Hussein Cancer Foundation and its approved electronic payment methods, stressing his pride in the sustainable relationship With the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and the bank’s keenness to have a continuous presence within its various activities.
Regarding this, Mrs. Nisreen Qatamesh appreciated the bank’s role in supporting Endowment of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, stressing that alsukuk alwaqfia have the advantage of permanence, as they remain an ongoing charity for the life of the person who offers them on behalf of himself or a member of his family or those close to him, which is a sustainable source of support for the struggle Against cancer.
Noting that King Hussein Cancer Foundation registered in “hjjt Waqf Khayri” in 2020 at Supreme Judge Department, to allow philanthropists wishing to endow a property or contribute to cash endowment instruments by providing a specific cash amount, which works to grow these assets and returns to ensure the continuity of achieving current and future goals in the long term. far, and to help the organization implement its vision and mission in combating cancer.
